About this course
Grief does not end at one year. It changes. The early acute experience usually softens, but the loss becomes part of who you are. People who integrate loss thoughtfully often describe deeper relationships, clearer values, and a quiet ongoing connection to the person they lost. This applied course addresses that long arc.
By the end of this course you will be able to recognize the shape of integrated grief, rebuild identity and relationships that the loss disrupted, maintain a continued bond with the person you lost in a way that fits your life, and support others through the long middle of their own grief.
What you will learn:
- How acute grief, integrated grief, and continued bonds differ over months and years
- How to revisit identity questions that the loss raised, especially after losing a parent, partner, or child
- How to rebuild routines, friendships, and partnerships that the loss disrupted
- How to mark anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays in ways that hold meaning over years
- How to develop a continued bond with the person you lost that fits your beliefs and life
- How to recognize when grief has become stuck and what kinds of help can open it again
- How to support others through the second, third, and fifth years of their own grief
The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: an integration assessment, an identity reflection, a relationship rebuilding plan, an anniversary plan, a continued bond practice, and a support-others plan.
This course is written for adults at least a year past a significant loss and for those supporting them. By the end you will move from waiting for grief to be over to building a life that carries the loss as part of who you are, with steady practices and relationships that sustain you across years.
