Applied Gaming Parenting: Across Ages, Esports Interest, and Problem Gaming

Applied gaming parenting adapts across ages, supports children with serious gaming interests, and addresses concerns about problem gaming. This applied course teaches that integration through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to adapt gaming parenting across developmental stages, support children with serious interests including esports or content creation, respond to concerns about problem gaming, and sustain a thoughtful approach across years. What you will learn: - Approaches to gaming for younger children including supervised play - Approaches to middle childhood gaming including online play with peers - Approaches to teen gaming including autonomy, schedules, and shared decisions - Approaches to children with serious esports or streaming interests - Approaches to concerns about problem gaming including assessment and response - Approaches to gaming during stressful periods such as school transitions or family changes - Approaches to sustaining the conversation across years The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a developmental gaming approach, a serious-interest support plan, a problem gaming response plan, a stressful periods plan, an ongoing communication routine, and a long-term reflection. This course is written for parents thinking across the long arc of a gaming childhood. By the end you will have moved from gaming as a constant struggle to gaming as one part of a thoughtfully parented life.
