Long-Distance Parenting Across Years: Major Events, Reintegration, and Adolescence

Long-distance parenting becomes especially demanding around major events, periods of reintegration, and adolescence. This applied course teaches structured approaches to those situations across the long arc. By the end of this course you will be able to support your child through major events from a distance, plan and handle reintegration after long absences, sustain relationship through adolescence, and adapt the approach as children grow. What you will learn: - Approaches to supporting your child through major events including illness, school transitions, and loss - Approaches to reintegration after deployment, work assignment, or other long absence - Approaches to the unique demands of adolescence across distance including autonomy and risk - Approaches to handling shifts in the child's interest in connection - Approaches to handling differences in parenting style between distance and at-home parents - Approaches to managing your own and your partner's well-being - Approaches to evolving the arrangement when circumstances change The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a major events support plan, a reintegration plan, an adolescence framework, a connection shifts reflection, a parenting style coordination plan, and a long-term sustainability plan. This course is written for parents thinking across the long arc of distance. By the end you will have moved from coping with distance to actively sustaining presence in your child's life across years.
