Applied Infant Development: Special Considerations, Siblings, and Transition to Toddlerhood

Applied infant development integrates special considerations and supports the transition into toddlerhood. This applied course teaches structured approaches through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to navigate special considerations including premature infants and those with developmental concerns, support older siblings during infancy, and plan for the transition into toddlerhood. What you will learn: - Approaches to premature infants including adjusted age and developmental expectations - Approaches to infants with identified developmental concerns including early intervention - Approaches to supporting older siblings during the first year - Approaches to coordinating across caregivers including grandparents and childcare - Approaches to the transition into toddlerhood including walking and language - Approaches to handling developmental surprises or concerns mid-year - Approaches to sustaining your own well-being and partnership through the first year The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a special considerations plan, a sibling support plan, a caregiver coordination plan, a transition to toddlerhood plan, a concerns response plan, and a parent well-being reflection. This course is written for parents across the first year. The course is informational and does not substitute for pediatric medical care. By the end you will have moved from week-by-week coping to a sustained, considered approach to your child's first year.
