Applied Puberty Support: Early, Late, and Variations Across Identity

Applied puberty support adapts to early and late developers, and to the variations across identity and family contexts. This applied course teaches integrated reasoning through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to support early and late developers, navigate variations across identity considerations including LGBTQ+ teens, support teens with disabilities or chronic conditions, and sustain support across the years. What you will learn: - Approaches to early-developing teens including social considerations - Approaches to late-developing teens including reassurance and consultation - Approaches to LGBTQ+ teens including conversations that affirm identity - Approaches to teens with disabilities or chronic conditions during puberty - Approaches to coordinating with pediatric and specialty care - Approaches to supporting siblings observing different puberty experiences - Approaches to sustaining conversation as puberty unfolds The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: an early developer plan, a late developer plan, an LGBTQ+ affirming framework, a disabilities or chronic conditions reflection, a healthcare coordination plan, and a long-arc plan. This course is written for parents thinking across the variation in puberty experiences. The course is informational and does not substitute for pediatric medical care.
