Applied Tween Academic Support: Learning Differences, Motivation, and the Transition to High School

Applied tween academic support addresses learning differences, motivation challenges, and the transition into high school. This applied course teaches integrated reasoning through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to support tweens with learning differences, navigate motivation challenges, plan the transition into high school, and adapt the approach as your tween grows. What you will learn: - Approaches to learning differences including evaluation, accommodations, and support - Approaches to motivation challenges including disengagement and burnout - Approaches to handling specific subjects that present recurring difficulties - Approaches to the transition into high school - Approaches to balancing academic demands with social, physical, and emotional health - Approaches to coordinating with school including IEPs and 504 plans where relevant - Approaches to long-term family relationships around academics The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a learning differences plan, a motivation challenges framework, a difficult subjects approach, a high school transition plan, a balance reflection, and a long-arc plan. This course is written for parents thinking across the tween years and into high school. By the end you will have moved from year-by-year reactivity to a sustained approach.
