I went back to studying after ten years out of school and honestly had no idea how to even start. This course broke everything down into small habits I could actually stick to, from setting up a weekly plan to using active recall instead of just re-reading. What surprised me most was how much the part on managing focus and taking proper breaks helped. My concentration used to fall apart after twenty minutes and now I can work through a full session without reaching for my phone.
I failed a module last year and had to resit it. This time round I spread short reviews across several weeks instead of one enormous weekend, and quizzed myself out loud on the walk to work. Sitting down for the resit I could actually pull the material up without staring at the ceiling trying to picture my notes. Passed comfortably.
What I appreciated most is how honest and practical this is. It doesn't promise magic, it just gives you a set of tools and shows you how to use them consistently. I started with the note-taking module and the idea of summarising in my own words instead of copying slides word for word made a huge difference in how much I remembered. By the time I got to the section on planning a study schedule, I had already noticed I was retaining more with less time spent. Wish I'd learned this stuff years ago.
The section on setting up where you study and clearing distractions before you sit down was the part I underestimated. Turns out my problem was never willpower, it was a cluttered desk and a phone lying face up next to me.

I'm doing a professional certification alongside a full time job and my old approach was to read the manual cover to cover and hope for the best. This gave me an actual system: shorter sessions, quizzing myself at the end of each one, mixing topics instead of blocking out a whole evening for a single chapter. The mixing part felt wrong at first because it's harder in the moment, but that's exactly why the material stuck. I passed on the first attempt, which I honestly did not expect. Years of trying to work this out on my own got me nowhere near what a few weeks of following a proper structure did.
The material on building a revision timetable is well thought out, and I now plan backwards from the exam date which took a lot of the dread out of it. Only downside is that some sections are long-winded and I caught myself skimming. The core advice holds up though.

I liked that it doesn't just tell you to 'study harder' but explains why certain methods work. The bit on breaking big topics into smaller chunks made a subject I was dreading feel manageable.
The organizational habits part really helped me stop leaving everything to the last minute, and I've built a revision timetable I actually follow now. My only gripe is that a couple of the modules cover similar ground and felt a bit repetitive.
