I run a small English conversation group for kids and started using this to give our sessions some backbone. The exercises move in a really logical order, from simple self-introductions through to describing pictures and giving opinions, so there's always a clear next step for each child. Because the prompts are open enough, even the more advanced kids can stretch their answers while the beginners keep it short. Over a term I've watched the quietest ones go from single words to genuinely enjoying their turn to talk.

This has been a lovely way to get my quiet daughter talking in English. The exercises build up gradually, starting with simple greetings and introducing yourself, then moving on to describing your day and answering everyday questions, so she never feels put on the spot. She reads the prompt and then says her answer out loud, and over a few weeks she has clearly loosened up. The one thing I'd change is that, because it's all text-based, there's no audio to model pronunciation, so I end up sitting with her to help with the trickier sounds.

My son was so shy about speaking English that he would barely whisper a word in front of anyone. This course eases into it, starting with tiny answers and slowly working up to full sentences and back-and-forth questions, so he never felt cornered. The topics are close to his own life, which made him actually want to answer instead of hiding. A few months in and he chatted away with his cousins over the holidays, something I honestly wasn't sure I'd ever see.

The structure is clear and the topics build sensibly on each other. It's just not something my daughter can do entirely on her own yet, since the speaking parts really work best when I sit with her and play the other person.

We do a couple of the speaking prompts every evening and it's become part of our routine. My son used to freeze up when asked anything in English, but the questions start so gently that he warms up without even noticing.
